Losing Weight while keeping it Real

I constantly get asked how I lost almost 150 Lbs in less than a year. Before, I divulge my secrets, let me tell you two things: 1. I am not a nutritionist and 2. there are no secrets. Let me sum up the bullet points that I believe have sparked my weight loss:

  • I committed to eat only foods that were metabolism boosters
  • I committed to stay away from foods that were metabolism killers
  • I decided that I was going to gradually ramp up my level of physical activity
  • If I cheated, I would cheat on eating more, but never on the types of foods
  • Yes, I count calories, but not for the purpose of starving myself, but rather for the purpose of making sure that I am well nourished while still being in a bit of a calorie deficit
  • I plan ALL my meals

A typical night would have me coming through the following stat lines:

  • 1950 Calories with 185 Grams of Protein
  • 7 hours of total sleep with more than 2 hours deep sleep
  • 300-500 Active calories

What do all of the above-listed statistics actually do? Well, at 6'1 and 364 Lbs which is what I was when I started, I knew that eating about 2000 calories a day would put me at a nice deficit. The deficit is what essentially adds up to your lost poundage. The foods that I eat, give me the necessary energy while keeping me at the desired caloric range. The sleep, allows my body to work, burn, and keep me moving with energy and gusto! The active calories are the walks that I would take in order to burn more calories. Just 3-4 15 minute walks throughout the day at a very moderate speed, will burn 300-500 calories per day. You do need nourishment in order to do any type of activity. So how do I get the necessary levels of nourishment? That is where high protein low fats, and low carbohydrates play a large role. The following is a list of the foods that I eat plenty of:

  • Salmon, Flounder, and Tuna
  • Light Greek Yogurt
  • Impossible Beef dishes. That is where Eden Fresh Cafe comes into play, we serve the best Impossible Meat dishes anywhere
  • Eggs, but only with a ratio of 4 to 1 whites to yellow
  • Whey Shakes

I also eat small amount of vegetables a couple of times a day and a very small amount of healthy carbohydrates such as Quinoa, buckwheat, serving of sweet potato etc. In short anyone can do it. I have helped many people do what I have done and take full control of their weight problems.
